Hunter, thanks. Yes, that is my chicken scratch. I should take some inspiration from Heber J. Grant.

Jon, good question. I didn't know, so I googled Joseph Smith majority records church and got this site. At the bottom, footnotes 16, 17, and 18 seem to be sources for that reference. The texts are in the body of the write up.

What is the specific reference source (date, page) for that magnificent Joseph Smith quote! My thanks also to Jared for your copious notes. Well done.

Jared T.: That's your handwriting?! I assumed it was some sort of shorthand system. I can't read a single word, except for the speaker's name. But whatever. Who cares, right?

And I concur with Rick Grunder, that your ability to recall all the details from the talks is, well, awesome (or as awesome as Elder Callister will permit).

Rick, it's so true. The scary thing is that should something happen to me before I get a chance to transcribe my mission and pre-mission journals, that info would basically be lost to my posterity...one more project for this summer...

Jared -

Excellent notes. As I compare some of your quotes to what I recall from watching the program, I sense that you have a mind like a bear-trap. Nice job!

In my business as an antiquarian book and paper dealer, by the way, I must often transcribe a wide variety of manuscripts from the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries. Some of it is all but undecipherable. Often, the only way I can read it is by knowing in advance the religious expressions of those periods, anticipating what the scrawls probably say, and then piecing the parts of the sentences together –rather like assembling the Dead Sea scrolls. Now, Jared, about your handwriting . . .

Jared, I also appreciate these notes and plan to watch the rebroadcast if possible. I felt a sense of wonder and awe at what this building will provide the saints. I can't wait to see it!

Of all of the remarks, I'm most impressed that Pres. Monson was able to work in a "young bishop" story in this context.

Jared, I really appreciated being able to feel apart of this historic occasion by reading through your notes. I've just been impressed again that this work is divine. Thank you for sharing.
