One purist reading of biennial is that it lasts a total of two years than dies forever.
Biannual, even for purists, appears every two years and survives longer than a single cycle.

Proposal submission date’s been moved up to October 15, according to an email I just got from Ariel. I double checked with her, and she said that’s indeed it. Extension by way of retraction.

Here’s another question: do you have to be LDS to apply? Certainly non-Mormons’ lack of faith affects their scholarship too, especially when conducting ethnographic work. Or is this an intramural conversation?

I believe the conference is actually held biennially–i.e., every other year. It was first held in 2006, and this is the 3rd conference. Ariel’s usage appears to be correct.
